Designed for efficient launch and recovery operations.

Advanced Handling for Modern Naval Operations

Our mission bay handling solution is designed to meet the growing demand for reliable launch and recovery systems (LARS) and versatile handling solutions. It ensures efficient deployment and recovery of USVs, FICs, manned mission crafts, and workboats.

Seamless Integration and Proven Technology

It integrates seamlessly with our well‑proven Slipway Systems, delivering optimal performance and full compatibility within demanding naval environments.

Reliability Through Innovation

Designed for modern naval missions, the mission bay handling solution provides dependable, precise, and efficient vessel operations, supporting mission readiness and operational safety across diverse marine assets.

Technical and professional

The mission bay handling solution offers fully remote-controlled operation for all functions and movements of individual units, stations, cradles, and trolleys. Control is possible either via a portable radio remote control unit or a control stand located in the mission bay area. The system also allows for seamless remote status monitoring on a bridge panel or a dedicated screen in the mission control room. Additionally, the system’s PLC-based electric control system enables output to the vessel management system.

This innovative solution is built from an interchangeable suite of flexible handling units, making it adaptable to hangars of various dimensions, shapes, and parking layouts.

Advanced, Flexible, and Safe Handling for Diverse Watercraft

The mission bay handling solution is an advanced and flexible system, specifically designed to handle a wide range of watercraft with varying characteristics, including different hull shapes, propulsion systems, lengths, beams, and weights of up to 25 tons per vessel.

The structural strength of the system and its components are designed to operate in conditions up to sea state 5, ensuring reliable performance even in demanding offshore environments. Built-in fail-safe mechanisms on all moving parts further enhance safety during operation.

Automated Launch and Recovery for Safe and Efficient Naval Operations

The deployment of fast interceptor crafts (FICs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), and other mission crafts from coast guard and naval vessels is becoming a rapidly growing global trend. However, achieving safe, efficient, and reliable launch and recovery of various watercraft in harsh offshore conditions often presents significant challenges.

PALFINGER’s system is designed to meet the demands of naval vessels, offering solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability during multi-craft operations.

One standout feature is the single-operator system, which eliminates the need for manual assistance in the hangar area during handling. Through the integration of a remote-controlled, hydraulic-powered Slipway Systems with hydraulic-powered transverse trolleys and transit/parking cradles, PALFINGER significantly reduces the time and effort required for watercraft deployment and recovery.

By minimizing manual support, these advanced systems not only increase the safety of crew members but also support faster and more efficient operations, ensuring reliable performance in critical missions.

Features

Features

  • Self‑adjusting quad wheel-drive units: located on the slipway cradle and transverse trolley, these units automatically adapt to the hull shape of the watercraft.
  • Hydraulically operated tilt and telescopic arms: equipped with self‑adjusting adapters and support wheels, these arms are mounted on the forward port‑side and starboard‑side (FWD PS/SBS) transit/parking cradles.
  • Aft port‑side and starboard‑side (AFT PS/SBS) parking cradles: two sets of high‑friction support rails ensure compatibility with both wide‑beam and narrow‑beam crafts.
