High-flying: PALFINGER at the Red Bull Flugtag
The Red Bull Flugtag returns to Vienna! It will take place on 26 September 2021 at Brigittenauer Bucht. Brave and brainy aviators and their human-powered flying machines will take to the skies once again.
This year, PALFINGER is a proud premium partner of the Red Bull Flugtag and will be present with innovative crane and lifting solutions as well as an official PALFINGER team.
The goal of the PALFINGER crew? To fly farther than their competitors in a sophisticated aircraft and to impress the jury as well as the audience with a unique performance.
Ready to lift (off)!
The Red Bull Flugtag is the perfect opportunity for PALFINGER to show the versatility of its products and the expertise of its staff to a broad audience.
PALFINGER Lifting Solutions are among the main players at the Red Bull Flugtag. Even before the actual event, the mechanical loader crane is used to assist in the setup and preparation of the event area. During the event, the aerial work platform provides selected guests with an optimal vantage point to watch the spectacle.
A truck-mounted forklift will be converted into a mobile basketball hoop, providing entertainment in between “flights” and allowing visitors to show off their perfect shooting form.
And after each performance, the electric loader crane fishes the flying machines out of the water and sets them down safely on the shore.

In addition, a select PALFINGER team gets the chance to present its ingenuity and expertise to the general public. With a high-flying idea, the official PALFINGER crew has to prevail against other teams within the company.
The winning team is chosen by an inhouse jury consisting of PALFINGER experts. Which team will succeed, and who’s the PALFINGER jury?

Please keep your seatbelts fastened because the coming weeks will be exciting! The following stops are on our flight itinerary:
- Presentation of the PALFINGER Flugtag jury: Tough but fair – it won't be easy for the applicants to impress the experts at PALFINGER. In the end, the best idea wins, and the selected PALFINGER team will compete at the Flugtag.
- PALFINGER jury member at the Flugtag: A PALFINGER expert will also be part of the jury at the event. Who will follow the spectacle from the jury chair and scrutinise the performances? Stay tuned – it will be revealed shortly!
- Announcement of the official PALFINGER crew: Employee teams had until 4 July to apply to be the official PALFINGER crew for the Flugtag. At the end of July, it will be revealed which applicants have prevailed as PALFINGER’s heroes of the skies.
- Presentation of the heroes on the ground: Also present at the Flugtag: a mechanical as well as an electrical loader crane, an aerial work platform and a truck-mounted forklift. The equipment that will be used at the event will be featured in the Flight Magazine.
- Information on the construction progress: What’s going on behind the scenes? Quite a lot! Follow the process of designing and building the flying machine at the “hangar” of PALFINGER’s brainy and brave engineers.
- Updates from the day of the event: Of course, PALFINGER will keep you updated on all important events of the airshow on 26 September – from the setup to the landing.

The next joint appearance will be at the Red Bull Flugtag 2021 where not only an official PALFINGER crew but also a loader crane, an electric crane and an aerial work platform will be present at the event.
