PALFINGER is searching for a Service Technician to work in our Technical Service Department. The primary function is to support customer service requests from the North American Market for the Crane product with regards to dealer, service partner and from time-to-time end user service issues. This role will work closely with our service partners in the areas of after sales service support. The position is a high-level service support role that requires experience and the ability to manage and handle a high demanding environment. We are located in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This position reports to the Regional Director of Customer Service.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot crane electric, electronic and hydraulic system issues via phone, email and on-site if needed. 

  • Interfacing and supporting other departments within the organization (e.g. Sales, Spare Parts, Service, Network Development, etc.).

  • Interface and provide feedback to the operations department on issues from the market

  • Regular on-site service visits with dealers and service partners.

  • Travel for on-site service partner support, repairs and troubleshooting.

  • Provide basic service training (Palfinger University) to our dealers and service partners.

  • Builds sustainable and good working relationships with our dealers, and service partners.

  • Follow up with dealers, and service partners on key service issues.

  • Liaison with design contacts in Europe to report issues and work together to help resolve market service issues.

  • Work closely with training staff to provide feedback from market service issues.

  • Planned service visits to dealers and service partners as a support role.

  • Support similar product lines (e.g. T&R) with after sales service support as a backup role.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications:

  • Technical training and education in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulics would be an asset.
  • 5+ years of years of experience in the areas of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with Palfinger Knuckle Boom Cranes would be an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to read and understand technical specifications, diagrams, and installation manuals.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the Region North America and to PALFINGER headquarters in Europe.
  • Must be well organized, a self-starter and career-minded individual.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to professionally represent the company in the field.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in MS Office products.
  • Ability to work an entire shift in an office, hot and/or cold industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl and sit.
  • Ability to use of hands/fingers to feel or handle equipment/tools.
  • A second language skill (German, Spanish, or French) could be an asset.
